On Wednesday, March 20th, Guidance Counselors met with their juniors to talk about the college application process.

The AHS Guidance Department is looking forward to welcoming you in September, 2013. Here are 5 things you can do to prepare for high school. Be sure to also click on the IPad for mail!
1. Take full responsibility for your homework and class assignments. Prepare a study schedule and stick to it! You'll be able to work on time management and study skills all at the same time! 2. Note taking is essential. Talk to your middle school counselor and teachers about effective note taking! This will help you in high school and in college! 3. Organization! Organization! Organization! Learn now how to organize your room, your notebook, your folders, and your locker! This is guaranteed to help you be successful! 4. Homework! Do you have any? Is it completed? You can expect a couple of hours of homework a night which means that time management is essential for success. You can do it! 5. Know when to wake up! As a high school student, your day will start at 7:50. Start training yourself to wake up early enough to arrive to school on time! A couple of things to do the night before: lay your clothes out, pack your backpack and leave it by the front door. Seniors! Be sure to take advantage of the many scholarship opportunities. All scholarships are posted in Naviance. For paper applications, be sure to visit Ms. Webster in the guidance office. Please remember that many scholarships require a transcript and letter of recommendation.
